Important Information
Please read carefully before requesting an appointment
Cosmetic Tattooing, also known as permenant make-up, is a form of tattooing which uses pigments to enhance or change the appearance of the skin. It is used to enhance facial features such as eyebrows, lips and eyelids. The pigments used in cosmetic tattooing are intended to be semi-permanent however, while your body will metabolise the ink over a period of approximately 12-36 months, traces of ink can remain in the skin permanently and therefore it is considered to be a permanent make-up procedure. Generally you will require 2 appointments to complete your cosmetic tattoo procedure. An initial appointment where we will complete the procedure and then a follow up appointment to review how you have healed and make any adjustments necessary. These appointments are scheduled approximately 6 weeks apart. Following this a booster appointment is recommended at around 12- 18 months to keep your cosmetic tattoo looking sharp and fresh.
BOOKING FEES
A non refundable booking fee is required to secure all appointments. This will be deducted from your balance on the day of the appointment. PREPARING FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT
NUMBING CREAM
It is common and completely normal to be concerned about the level of discomfort involved in each treatment. Most people find the sensation to be quite tolerable, however it isnt without any discomfort. If this is a concern for you we recommend applying a suitable topical anaesthetic also known as numbing cream. (DO NOT order numbing creams from websites such as eBay. If it is not sold directly from a pharmacy in Australia the product may not meet Australian standards and this can very results significantly and cause adverse reactions as well as risk chemical burns.) If you would like to use numbing cream during your treatment please let us know and we can assist you in ordering this product safely from our affiliate compounding pharmacy at a cost of $44.90 inc shipping. Please allow at least 3 days for the product to be shipped prior to your appointment.
Do not tweeze, wax or tint the area for 48 hours prior to your appointment.
If you are someone that suffers from herpes simplex virus, cold sores or fever blisters around the treatment area you will be required to obtain prescription medication from your doctor to assist in preventing an outbreak during the healing process. THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT FOR LIP BLUSH CLIENTS as the herpes simplex remains dormant in your body for a lifetime, any trauma to the lip area will cause an outbreak which will ultimately effect the quality of the healed lip blush tattoo.
Do not consume alcohol or take aspirin ibuprofen or any other blood thinners for at least 24 hours prior to your appointment. Please note it is important to consult your doctor prior to stopping any medication.
Avoid caffeine and exercise on the day of your appointment as this can cause undue bleeding an thinning of the pigment resulting in a lighter than expected healed result
Sunburnt skin cannot be tattooed so please refrain from sun exposure for at least 7 days prior to your appointment.
Avoid facials and antiwrinkle injectables for 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks after your appointment.
Discontinue using Vitamin A, Retinol and AHA skincare products for 1 month prior and 2 weeks after your appointment.
Discontinue supplementing fish oil and Vitamin E 1 week prior to your appointment as they are natural blood thinners.
Please advise if you suffer from any allergies that may be of concern.
A full list of ingredients is available on our website. If requested a skin patch test can be offered however keep in mind allergic reaction to pigment can occur immediately or years later whether a skin patch test is performed or not. Allergic reaction is extremely rare.
WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE DAY OF TREATMENT
Cristen Jayne Cosmetic Tattoo is an Appointment Only Studio so please arrive on time to ensure we can provide you with the best possible service. Where possible please wear your normal make-up to your appointment. This will help us to understand your preferred daily look/shape/colour. Before your appointment a thorough consultation form will be sent to you via text. If you have not completed it you may do so upon arrival. This information will further assist us in understanding what to expect during the tattoo process and anything we may need to keep in mind during the healing process. Your health and safety is always paramount so collecting this information ensures we are providing our treatments as safely as possible.
We will then sit down together and discuss the look you would like to achieve, what to expect during the healing process and answer any questions you may have. This is a great time to share any inspiration images or preferred colours you may have in mind.
We will then proceed to map out your desired shape so you will be able to see the this prior to cosmetic tattoo commencing. Please note we will not commence tattooing until you are 100% happy with the pre-draw.
AFTER YOUR TREATMENT
On the day of your treatment you can expect the colour of your cosmetic tattoo to be significantly sharper, brighter and more vibrant than it will be once completely healed. Cosmetic Tattoo pigment is designed to have between 50-80% retention rate depending on the colour, skin condition and range selected. Once fully healed it will settle into a beautiful natural hue.
Please don't be alarmed if your result is lighter than expected after the first treatment. Your final healed result will be revealed 4-6 weeks post treatment. We will discuss aftercare during your appointment and you will be provided with written aftercare instructions in your aftercare pack on the day of your treatment. You may experience redness and swelling for 2-3 days following your appointment. During the healing process you will need to avoid water and makeup on the area, exercise and direct sunlight for 10 days - 3 weeks depending on your own body's ability to heal. Please consider this timeframe upon booking as you may wish to schedule around upcoming events
TOUCH UPS
Cosmetic tattoo is designed to be completed over 2-3 sessions. This allows us to build healed layers of pigment in the skin. Using this approach ensures we achieve the most natural results possible. As everyone's skin and lifestyle factors vary quite a bit we can have more control over the final outcome by adopting this approach.
LONG TERM CARE
Cosmetic Tattoo pigment is designed to fade over time. We recommend having a colour refresh appointment every 12-18 months to keep your cosmetic tattoo looking fresh. We also recommend a good quality sunscreen to protect your skin and prevent your cosmetic tattoo from fading.
